Just what is the difference

Explain the difference between BASIC ATOM and BASIC STAMP 2.

forrest

Basic Atom has more speed and more program space, a few extra i/o pins, with a few more features than the BS2.

The BS2 has less speed and less program space. Some of the newer stamps like the BS2px has 8 slots of 2k memory totalling 16k memory, however, to program the slots can get confusing which is why I don’t think I will get a bs2 for this reason.

Both the Basic Atom & the BS2 have identical program commands with a few differances. The Atom does have some different commands but not many.

Hope that helps. Some of the veteran guys on this forum might be able to get in to more detail about the nitty gritty, but in a nut shell, those are a few of the key differances.

Thanks, Ive heard so much about stamp 2 that i thought it was an industry standard.

It basically is very standard. You’ll find lots of code for BS2. But, there are a number of other processors that are pin-compatible with the BS2, but with things like Analog2Digital built in, faster speed and more memory for user programs. I put a post in the Bot Board and Atom forum that describes the BS2 and many other processors if you’re interested in differences.

Yes, it is the “basic” stamp (pun for basic stamp  ) for roboteers. Most roboteers know about the BS2.
