JST "BEC" connector's max current

I’m planning to power a thing through a 2S Li-Pol and there appears to be an agreement that it comes with a female JST RCY connector (although official specifications like to keep it a secret).

But how come the connector is rated for 3 amps and wires no thicker than 22AWG and yet the battery provides it with 20AWG cables and expects to pull off 25 amps of discharge?

Is it all a lie? Or will I be a bad person trying to crimp a male RCY onto a fuse that comes with a 16AWG wire?

Hi @anon77820378 and welcome to our forum!

Maybe the 25 amps discharge is not continuous but a peak value? In that case the connector can withstand for some period of time.

Anyway, inserting a fuse cannot do the harm. You can just go to a safe side.
