John Joseph (aka J.J.)

This is John Joseph, otherwise affectionately known as J.J. This is a Parallax BoeBot with some custom modifications. The most obvious mod is the color of J.J.'s chassis. His code is also modified to accommodate the specific spaces in the environment that he roams. With combined sonar and infrared, this bot rarely gets stuck. His sonar is a Parallax Ping ultrasonic and his infrareds came with the original kit.  Sometimes, i'll kick back and channel surf while J.J. roams the place till his batteries give out.

Autonomous roaming using sonar and IR

  • Actuators / output devices: 1 Parallax Standard Servo, 2 Parallax continuous rotation servos
  • CPU: Basic Stamp mounted on Board of Education
  • Power source: 6VDC via AA
  • Programming language: pbasic 2.5
  • Target environment: Indoor floor...smooth or carpet

Cool Paint job.

It is refreashing to know I am now not the only Boe Bot fan here. Very artistic. I am going back to basics and building a new Boe Bot although the only original parts will be the chasses and coaster ball. It is simple for R&D and will have a breadboard instead of a microcontroller board so it can usy any microcontroller. My self designed robots are bigger or too fast for start up debugging.I like the paint job. lol

Cool Paint Job

Thanks for the comment.  Good idea about the breadboard.  The BoeBot is a good platform for small scale prototyping for sure.  I have about 4 in my fleet with a bunch of spare parts.  Whenever I get bored, I pull the BoeBOX out of the closet to play.
