John boat

I am trying to figure out a cheap inexpensive way to propel My 12 foot johnboat I seen these things and I was amazed and Can I wire the t200 straight to a 12 V battery and have a interference switch in line with it so that I can stop on the switch to have propulsion and when I let off it has no power or does it need to ESC

Hi Jesserussell83,

The T200 thruster is using a brushless motor which require an ESC to control it, there is no way around that.
However you could use a Servo-Tester to control the ESC or use a microcontroller to go full power when powering the system (custom…)

You can use a combination of the T200 w/ESC and Mini Servo Tester.

Just keep in mind that ESC’s are not “armed” at power-up, they require to see a certain signal to “arm” themselves.
This to avoid any injuries.

In real, this mean you will have to place the potentiometer on the tester to it’s center position before be able to adjust it to the desired speed. This each time you power the system.
