Happy Birthday, Robot Dude!!! So it’s the big Five-Oh - no wonder you look so distinguished in the videos flying your heli, you’re just getting started.

Jim, the others are right about you being an inspiration to budding roboticists. But it is more than your inventiveness and ingenuity in designing your extendable SES system, or your acumen in creating a company to fill our niche market. It is mostly about the wonderful way you treat us. Yes, we are customers, but you treat us, the Forum Family, as more. You pay attention to our novice misunderstandings, gently address the same beginner problems over and over, congratulate our successes and innovations, and make us feel good about participating in this community.

Thank you, we don’t plan to get that damn robot off you for a long time to come.

Well said RoboTed. Congratulation on your success Jim from all here at the Lynx community, or “Forum Family”

Thanks for inspiring and providing the resources for the simplest of projects to technically advanced robotics!

Wow thanks everyone! I wasn’t expecting this! On September 30th 2011 Jim version 5.0 was released. It’s just a beta, and there are still some bugs to work out, but it looks pretty good so far. I am just getting my second wind. Thanks again for all the nice words!

So, whats the new features in the 5.0 versions? I did like the 4.9 as well…

Ha! Mostly just program changes to compensate for aging hardware! lol Firmware changes make me dizzy. lol

:open_mouth: Make that 51 :open_mouth:

Happy Birthday Jim!

Hope things are going well and you are having some fun!

Kurt

Yes! Happy 51st, Jim. Hope retirement is beginning to treat you well! Although…

Some things I have learned about retirement:

  • You don’t get any vacation days.
  • When you feel bad (or just need some time off) there is no one to call in “sick” to.
  • You plan all your shopping etc. for mid-mornining or mid-afternoon to avoid the morning, noon, and night rush hours of all the commuters only to find yourself trapped among all the retirees.
  • When you stay up late watching the blizzard forecasts, you suddenly realize you no longer care if the whole area is being let off work; it won’t help you anyway.

There’s more, but part of the fun is discovering it for yourself. :smiling_imp:

So, enjoy retirement and Happy Birthday, Jim.

Ted
