This is JAbot. He is the product of my son’s (age 7) never ending list of what a robot is expected to do. Based roughly on Johnny 5, we soon found that numerous modification were required to suit our list of “ideas”.
Some successfully implemented functions:
-pick up objects from the floor with both hands
-wander the house and avoid objects
-throw a ball
-maintain eye contact
Other functions we are still perfecting:
-line follower
-voice command
The shock dampens oscillation that is produced at the shoulder joint. Not only do they provide smooth motion but they also prevent the shoulders from sagging. Any mechanically disadvantage joint will benefit from dampening.
Very good robot, and what micro controller did you use?
Wow! that is really cool.
Those R/C shock absorbers on the chest piece are only for show or do they have a purpose?
