Is the lynxmotion wireless PS2 controller a standard wireless PS2 controller or is it modified in some way ?
I want to but one of these controllers but the shipping cost is way to much to buy directly from lynxmotion
perhaps the best way to put it is all ps2 controllers are not created equal, nor do they all seem to function identically from a software standpoint. I believe there are people who have used other controllers successfully, however I get the impression the path of least resistance to success is more frequently using the controller supplied by Lynxmotion.
I couldn’t agree with you more but having to pay 120plus usd for shipping a 20 dollar controller to Greece directly from lynxmotion is a big no-no for me. I’m trying to find a distributor in Europe but no one seems to carry these whereas normal wireless ps2 controllers are available everywhere.
From an earlier tutorial for building the CHR-3 (maybe still the current one?), they state that the PS2 controller code has only been verified to work on controllers built by: Madcatz, Pelican or Hiteck.
My assumption would be that these would still work. The one that worked for me (purchased in Canada) was with the brand name of Sector 7.
I also would stay away from controllers by Logitech. There have been several reports (including mine), of not being able to make these work.
Generally speaking all of the PS2 3rd party controllers (except logitec) should work fine. However we can not support (troubleshoot and alter our code) for any non Lynxmotion controllers.
Jim, I perfectly understand the situation but considering the shipping cost I will have to take a chance and hope that it works.
