Introducing the Lynxmotion Phoenix Hexapod Kit!

Looks like we are nearly there. Having read some other threads i’m assuming the postage to me is probably going to be more than the kit itself.
With that in mind is there anybody from UK here also planning to buy this kit who would be interested in clubbing together to share the postage.

Parts are in.

Red: Stunning brilliance!

Blue: Deep rich color!

Black: Awesome! (can’t wait to sand the edge of the tibia for effect)

Green: Um, did I mention how nice the other colors are?

The green parts were completely and totally worthless. The color was patchy, faded, and the parts were sticky. Yuck… I’ve sent the green parts back to be black anodized. I’m really sorry to Seamus, and anyone else who was wanting green. The place just can’t do green and there are just not enough remaining parts to try and send them somewhere else.

James is creating the assembly guide. Beth is setting the kit up on the website. Give us just a few more days…

That’s very nice to hear.
Could you please post some pics.

Yuppiiiiiii!!!

Guess whant colour I had chosen? …
Green!

Ok never mind, I’ll try with blue.
Yes, some photos would be nice!

nice.

black is on my list, but i could have worked with the fadded green parts.however if i got em back think i might find a new anodizer. (depending on the volume they messed up)

I think the combination of red and black would be awesome. Would give it a black-widow theme to it…

Black chassis, with red femur, with black tibias… 8)

Sorry to hear that the green didn’t come out right, three out of four isn’t so bad…

Jim, you mentioned something about “bright dip?” What is “bright dip?”

Bright dip is a process that is done previously to anodizing to make the parts really shine. We will be posting images today. I’m sure the camera won’t do it justice, (we’ll see) but the parts look so awesome, much better than I was even expecting.

At least for now we are only offering full kits of the Phoenix parts. So mixing of colors will require two people working together to swap parts to their liking. In order to provide the parts as individual pieces I will have to do some work finding cheaper sources for the parts. It’s a quantity / cost thing.

What’s the pricing on these kits? And what are the parts list of the included items in the kit? Perhaps I should leave you alone so you can work on this…

If someone hasn’t already started one, I will start a thread on the Trading Post for individuals interested in swapping Phoenix parts.

It’s ok. I’m taking product pictures now. We are trying to finish this up this week. The product is basically set up, but it’s not too pretty. Edit: It’s basically set up. There may be typos…

The kits include the anodized chassis components. The hardware to assemble the chassis and mount the servos. The SSC-32 and or Bot Board II mounting hardware. The rubber feet ends. And the wiring harness.

What’s not included are the 6 pairs of ASB-04 you need to assemble the hip joints. This is so you can get black or brushed. And the servos, we recommend 645’s as a minimum.

Note, the assembly guide illustrates the assembly using the aluminum servo horns (not included), but the kit includes the tapping screws if you are building with the nylon servo horns. We are treating this robot as a very high-end show piece. But we have done everything we could to keep the pricing as low as possible.

Images in a few minutes…

I put in my order for the servos and ASB’s!
(wipe drool from chin)

More pics to come…

Woah! That looks sick!

Here are a couple more images.

Here is the assembly guide.

I apologize sincerely for this project taking so long. It took a lot more time to deal with than I originally thought. I just put them in stock for shipping on Monday.

Go get um! 8)

Two thumbs up for another great product to LM’s product line… Looks beautiful Jim.

I hope you post the black and blue ones soon… Just pics of the chassis, femurs, and tibias would be enough for me…

Thanks! Here’s the best I can do.

Edit, I added a second image

Hi!

Congratz Jim! She’s finally out there! Awesome! 8)

As soon as the powerpod for Phoenix is available I’ll try to rewrite/ alter the PEP sheet to make PEP 100% compatible with your standard SSC32 PIN configuration and Powerpods setup for the coxa angle. Then it should be possible to create PEP sequences runned with the GP sequencer and at the same time use Powerpod to run her “live” (I hope… ).

Thanks! 8) Congrats to you as well! I really appreciate your help with the design. Do you know which color do you want? Did you notice I gave you credit for the design in the product page?

That’s great! I wasn’t sure how you set up the legs so I just had James do what we have done with all the other hexapod assembly guides.
