Interesting video with a neat hexapod

There’s a segment in there with a hexapod. Pretty sophisticated programming…

Yes, indeed! However, I want to see a hexapod do all that autonomously… It looks like the only thing different about the hexapods in the video is they have a 4th DOF on each leg for leg rotation. That would take almost a full SSC-32 for the legs (24 servos). For an octapod it would take a full SSC-32 to control eight 4DOF legs. I would really like to experiment with a configuration like that.

Yeah, the octopod would be neat to see with 4 DOFs per leg… The video does show a lot of neat characteristics, but I wonder how much was pre-planning/meditating assisted those motions?

For instance, picking up that stuffed puppy was a neat little trick, but I didn’t see any sensors so the coordinate where the puppy was placed relative to the hexapod’s starting point must have been pre meditated…

Still, even if many of the obstacles were pre-planned and known, the programming behind the motions/sequences are years ahead of my own

By the way the thing walked, it looked like it was outfitted with some powerful servos. I can’t imagine the things it can do if a custom hexapod was made with some AX-64s from Robotis…

I thought the “dancing” section of the hexapod was a neat one. Was it a demonstration of networking? It seems like the one on the left (red) was tethered to a data stream, but the one one the right (blue) seemed like it was free from this umbilical cord.

Mechanically, the hexapod is a piece of art. Now, onto deving on my own round hexapod…

Both hexapods were tethered, so they would have been either manually controlled, or run by preprogrammed sequences.

I bet they would not be ahead of Laurent though. He is an awesome programmer!

I am guessing the hexapods had at least servos equal to the HS-645, if not HS-5645’s or better.

It was probably just the two hexapods running the same sequence, started together. Could be preprogrammed sequences and/or wireless control.
