I have finnaly got my parts and am staring my first robotics project. I have been reading through the servo portion of the help and found out how to interface them. But I have two questions.
The manual sujested to hook the servo up to a seperate power sorce perferably a 6v one. Do I just hook the red and black wires directly to a batery or do I need some special equipment?
I am using the PICAXE-28X1 Starter Pack and was reading the diagrams and found out that I have only two 0v pins. I currently have 3 servos can I hook two or all 3 of them to one 0v pin since I will be hooking the servos up to a seperate power or if I do that will I fry something?
Thanks. I was thinking about connecting the servos to one of those 6v batteries in those flash lights or a rechargeable battery that I salvaged from one of my old RCs. One last question. Witch one of these would you suggest? I am currently leaning toward the the 6v battery instead of the Rechargeable battery I have salvaged.
The 0V (Ground) wire can be split as many times as you want. To connect the servo to an external power supply, you connect the red to +V and black to 0V (GND), but be sure to also connect eh GND from the external power supply to a GND on your controller (common ground). If you don’t do this, you’d see the might servo behave erratically. As a side note, many servo controllers include an area to connect external power for the servos - keep this in mind when buying a controller.
