Inquiry about encoders

Good afternoon,
I recently bought these motors (https://eu.robotshop.com/products/12v-313rpm-4166oz-in-hd-premium-planetary-gearmotor-encoder) and it came to my attention on the encoder datasheet that it is refered an Rl and Cl while testing the rise and fall time, are these placed between the encoder leads in pararel? If so, are they mandatory/ do they significanly affect the performance of the readings?

CL is used to smooth out noise and reduce overshoot or ringing on the signal lines by providing a small amount of filtering. A capacitor can affect the rise and fall times, depending on its value.
