IMU for the robot

Greetings! https://www.robotshop.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I am looking for an IMU with the following specification:

  1. 160 Degree/sec or above

  2. 4G or above

  3. [Most important] Communication (input/output) needs to be EtherCAT or analog

Please help me to find the IMU that suits my spec.

Thank you!!

Hello everyone!

I am looking for an IMU that generates output in either EtherCAT or Analog.

I literally asked more than 30 IMU manufacturers if their products can satisfy my need, but most of them (I did not get answers from everyone yet) offer in digital, CAN or Ethernet form.

One of the manufacturers suggested me to make a joint project with IMU company and converter (digital->EtherCAT/Analog) company to make what I want. However, this seems costly and needs some time.

Do you guys have any idea how to find or make the IMU with EtherCAT or Analog output??https://www.robotshop.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_surprised.gif

Hi,

First, here is a link to our IMU category. You might be interested in the 5V 5 DOF Gyro Accelerometer IMU. It has analog output for all sensors. Here is its technical specifications :
• 5-DOF (Gyro: Pitch & Roll Rate, Accelerometer: X, Y Z)
• Gyro: Murata ENC-03RC
• Accelerometer: Analog devices ADXL335
• Analog output for all sensors
• Gyro raw sensitivity: 0.67mV/°/s
• Gyro full scale range: 300°/s
• Onboard amplifier for gyro output Gain: 4.7x
• Acclerometer full scale range: ±3g

Hope this helps https://www.robotshop.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks! I will check them out.

Hi,

If you are still in need for an EtherCAT IMU, we might have a solution for you. We developed an EtherCAT based system which includes an Xsens IMU (leading brand in IMUs). If desired, other IMUs can be integrated as well.
Let me know if you would be interested.

BR,

Carsten

I’m curious to learn more about what you have developed Carsten.

I am working on a two axis motion gimbal for the purposes of engineering education and need a vendor for IMU’s.

Best,
Joseph
