I'm trying to acquire the necessary parts to make an RC train

Hey y’all! I’m new here and I was hoping to field some advice.

I’m hoping to make a simple RC controlled train, I’ve been looking online and I end up running into motors that are way too powerful for what I’m aiming for, and I wouldn’t even know where to start in terms of establishing a remote control to them.

If I could get some suggestions on how to power and control a small motor, one that may fit inside a ~2 in wide box, I would really appreciate it!

Hi @imtryingtobuildatrain and welcome to the forum.

Here are some small DC motors that are usually used in small RC toys for example:

Please have a look and tell us what looks interesting or suitable for you.

They all look suitable! Thank you Igor.

What I’m concerned about is which motor will be most apt for driving the train. I estimate it will be maybe a little heavier than a pound, so the motor I choose will have to supply a good amount of torque.

I notice they all list their rpm’s, so I should be going with the lowest rpm?
