Im New and I tried everything. PLEASE HELP ME :'(

Hello guys
I bought the Phoenix Hexapod kit. and Im trying to program it. I need help ASAP.
First: Im trying to connect SSC-32 to the PC via Win7 and XP. I couldnt.

  • the Green LED is always ON.
  • Im using USP to Serial Port converter.
  • Connect 9v power supply to VL
  • Connect 6v power to VS2 (jumpers VS1=VS2 both jumped vertically)
  • BAUD jumpers set to 115200 (both installed vertically)
  • Turn on power (both at the same time)
  • Launch LynxTerm
  • Click on the Firmware button – dialog showing nothing in the version field comes up.

Im not an expert but maybe the usb port is not set at 115200 baud rate, you can check it at the device manager by right clicking on usb to serial port you are using and choosing properies, check for the baud rate there. Id send a pic but im on my phone x)

If you are having issues, don’t power up the electronics until we have reviewed the setup. Please post some clear images of all your connections to the SSC-32 and microcontroller. Are you using a USB to serial adapter and if so, which one?

Hello
thank u guys. I think i got over that problem but I have another one :slight_smile:
I did step 16 in the tutorial but it did make like it says. i have this PS2 controller. maybe this is the problem?

and i wanna ask can i control the hexapod with thumb joystick bye wires? if so, how to do it.

Don’t do too many things at once or else it’s really difficult to pinpoint each issue.
First - get the SSC-32 connected to the PC directly using a serial cable or USB to serial adapter. Note that not all serial cables nor USB to serial adapters are reliable. Ensure you can get one servo to move via Lynxterm.

Once that is complete, you can connect the SSC-32 to the microcontroller, chance the baud rate via the jumpers on the SSC-32 and connect the PS2 controller. This begs the question of how have you connected the PS2 controller to the microcontroller? Can you provide an image?

I did everything as how it says in the tutorial, i stopped at step #16 as i mentioned before and this is what i got
lynxmotion.com/images/html/build159.htm

When I trying to program .prj I got this error

and also give me a message says
A BasicATOM processer must be connected to program.

about the PS2, I connected but in different color as follow:

Brown --> Yellow P12
Orange --> Red P13
Yellow --> Black P14
Blue --> Violet P15
Black --> Blue P15 +5vda
Red --> Yellow P15 Ground

PLEASE HELP ME I NEED THIS HEXAPOD WORKING IN THIS WEEK :frowning:

We need to know what going on… What works, what doesnt… Even if it means reposting this info (or updating the info on each post.)
So… Does the SSC connect correctly to the PC and are you able to write the leg positions to the board in LynxTerm as directed in STEP 10???

Can you provide a side view profile of the ATOM chip. This will insure that you have the pin push right into the board?

Make sure you have the Serial cable connected to the BotBoard and not the SCC. (i appoint as this has happen before.) and that you are using the correct Baud Rate of 38.4?

What is the state of both boards Green LED when you apply power?

Also please check your jumper arrangement. I cannot quite make out how you are powering the boards but i see you have the VS-VL jumper installed on the BB.

maybe pull out what you have and reconnect like this… *(double check)

YES AND I UPDATE THE FREEWARE, AND ALSO I TYPED “VER” IT GAVE ME THE CURRENT FREEWARE. SO COZ OF THAT I KNOW ITS DONE.

YA AT FIRST IT HAPPENED WITH ME BUT I DID IT RIGHT AFTER THAT.
I THINK IN THE TUTORIAL SAYS TO SET UP THE BAUD RATE AT 115.2K?

WHEN I APPLY THE POWER, THE SSC-32 GREEN LED AND THE BOT BOARD II GREEN WITH THE A,B,C LEDS ARE ON WITH BEEPING ONE TIME AT THE FIRST IF THE PS2 RECEIVER CONNECTED. IF NOT THERE IS A CONTINUOUS BEEPING.

EVERYTHING LIKES THE PICTURE PROVIDED BUT THE JUMPER IS IN. DO U MEAN I HAVE TO TAKE IT OF?

THANK U FOR THE RESPONSE AND I REALLY NEED TO MAKE IT WORK.
I HOPE THE PICTURES ARE GOOD.

I’M SORRY I JUST REALIZED THAT I DESCRIBED IT IN WRONG WAY.

WHEN I APPLY THE POWER, THE SSC-32 GREEN LED PLINKING AND THE BOT BOARD II GREEN LED SOLID WITH THE A AND C LEDS PLINKING AND B GREEN SOLID ARE ON WITH BEEPING ONE TIME AT THE FIRST IF THE PS2 RECEIVER CONNECTED. IF NOT THERE IS A CONTINUOUS BEEPING.

when connecting the SSC to the PC yes you would have been at 115.k.
Now that you have the BotBoard connected the ssc needs to be at 38.4

REMOVE any jumpers that are not in the picture i posted. You do not need the ABC jumpers installed. also if you have powered it the same way as the picture then you need to remove the VS-VL from the BotBoard.

Your ATOM chip doesn’t look properly inserted. it needs to go in all the way. im very surprised you get any kind of beeping at all. id expect it to make a clicking sound, meaning the ATOM is loose.
Be very careful exhorting pressure on the top of the atom chip. those pins can bend easily. but again it needs to be seated correctly.

Lets first get the board connected and programmed, then worry about the PS2.

I did all the thing as it shows in the picture and still the same situation. error with the message.
the AOTM as in the vedio, I can not push it more.
youtube.com/watch?v=Cb1eIM3R … e=youtu.be

Removing the chip is not an easy task. even more so than inserting it due to those fragile pins.
im still not convinced its seater correctly.

You have a bent pin. whether this is new due to removing the chip for the purpose of this video or from before.
fail2.JPG
fail 1.JPG

From the video i can clearly see its pin 15. this pin is responsible for the PS2 (CLK)
chip.JPG

once the pin is alined correctly you will need to push that pin in all the way. i find that by holding a flat object over the top of the chip so you get equal pressure on all the pins as it seats in will make sure you get it in correctly.

once this is done we can look these issues again.

I was trying to pull out the ATOM chip, I broke one of the pin17. :’(

do u think if i order new one they will assemble it for me with BBII?

:frowning:
Im not sure thats an option.

I got the new Basic ATOM chip and i put it in BBII
everything went good except the part of the PS2
after i programmed the chip, i should press start and the legs should move to the start positions. it didnt happened.

and this is a video of the situation

Thank u

Ok good we are closer to getting it working. Im not home but when i get back ill try sorting this out.
Its very clear that the ps2 is not connecting.

ok from your description earlier you said you have the ps2 wired as follows:
Brown --> Yellow P12
Orange --> Red P13
Yellow --> Black P14
Blue --> Violet P15
Black --> Blue P15 +5vda
Red --> Yellow P15 Ground

but in your video i can see some colour difference in the wiring. that looks like this:
Brown --> Yellow P12
Orange --> Red P13
Yellow --> Black P14
Blue --> Yellow P15
Black --> Blue P15 +5vda
Red --> Violet P15 Ground

check your wiring. as you are using a difference colour wiring we cannot be sure that the wires are correct so we can only trust its correct.??

Humm…
Ps never power the board while its loose on the bot like that. a slight touch on that metal phoenix body will not be good.

Ok I did reconnect PS2 as follow
Brown --> Yellow P12 DAT
Orange --> Red P13 CMD
Yellow --> Black P14 ATT
Blue --> Yellow P15 CLK
Black --> Blue P15 +5vda
Red --> Violet P15 Ground

This is exactly how i connect the receiver

still the PS2 controller is not working.
I have to make it work in this week end so please help me
