Im making a touchless soap dispenser!

Hi All, first post here, i have been told the forums are helpful here!
so i’m going to try and make a touch less soap dispenser from scratch. i can have sheet metal cut and folded elsewhere so that is not an issue.

the issue is source the correct components… you have to understand i am a Mechanical Engineer… electric=magic to me.

i am going to run in on 4 D batteries so voltage is 6V? for a mechanical guess?
i will need a peristaltic pump which i believe i have sourced (link below, if not others very similar)
(aliexpress.com/item/New-DC- … 000f9f89-0)

but i will need a timer also to set how long the pump runs… again i’m getting really confused trying to fin a timer but again i think i have found one which would work, does anyone know of a cheap option? (see below link)
(timers.shop/Multi-Functional-5V- … _p_12.html)

but before all of that i need a hand motion sensor… these are harder to find than you think! the only one i keep finding are for lights and i’m assuming if they have a dimmer option they will be no good for just simply sending a signal but i have found one which is just an on/off function(link below)… could it be used? is there anything else i could be using to make this all easier for me?

really appreciate anyone taking the time to guide me a little bit on this

Thanks!

Hi,

The timer and pump seems to be good items and should work if you follow the manufacturer recommendation.
However the sensor is one to be used at 120-240VAC so take precaution. It will also only trigger ON and stay ON until you turn it OFF which might not work for you.

You might want to have a look at something like THIS.

Aha! that is perfect! thanks so much for the help with the sensor, also, i think the timer i’m looking for a delay relay, i will need it to send a signal to the pump for about 3-4 seconds after being triggered by the sensor.
