I think I got a bad V2 chip?

I ordered the V2 chip for the SSC-32 and when I tried to update it to the GP firmware, it gave me the failed message. I looked here in the forum and found that Rift had the exact same problem in January. I read the entire thread to see how it got resolved. I did most of the things that was suggested, even before I read the thread, and after reading did things I hadn’t done yet.
The chip worked fine, after first install. I moved servos and check firmware, so all was cool. But all was not cool when I went to install the GP firmware.
Is there something else I can do, or do I need to return this and get another one?
My poor humanoid is kind of sitting limp at the moment. Can somebody help him come back to life?!

The firmware update is timing intensive. You must have the SSC-32 baud rate set to 115.2kb. It will not work at lower baudrates. If you are using a USB to serial cable you should try adjusting the timeouts. Look at the instructions in the SEQ manual for help with setting the timeouts. If you have access to a machine with a true serial port you should try the firmware upgrade on it. This is most likely a comport issue not a chip issue.
