I / O Grove Base Shield for Arduino - is this compatible with the Hummingbird Duo and can it be coded with Snap?

I have a Hummingbird Duo that works well but only connects with the Snap coding environment, not Scratch. I’m planning a mini greenhouse project and want to use the “Grove Base Shield for Arduino” with the Hummingbird Duo to connect an “Electronic Brick Soil Moisture Sensor.”

Can this be coded with Snap?

I know it could be done with Arduino, but my students have no computer science background, so I’m looking to use block coding. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!

Hi @DannyS and welcome to our forum.

According to this blog, yes, you can use it:

I see they are using Hummingbird Duo and Base Shield V2 which is this one:

And I think they are using this sensor:

I hope this helps.

Hi Igor,
Thank you very much for your reply - I really appreciate it!

I was looking at those resources, but instead, I ended up buying a moisture sensor, cutting off the jumper wires and wiring it directly to the Hummingbird and it works! My next step is to figure out how to connect a relay to a 12V water pump.

This is the sensor I used: Soil Moisture Sensor Module (Capacitive) | Learn at CAROBOT

Thanks again, much appreciate,
Danny
