I am competing in the Science Olympiads NY sumobot competition, and I am using a Terminator chassis set up for RC with a 12v battery, a sabertooth 2x10 (Overkill, but I didnt realize this at the time) and the GHM-02 ( Also overkill, but very fun in the 2kg class.)
I used this robot last year, and now the green dot tires have lost their grip. I need new tires, but am at a loss for which ones to get. as of now the robot weighs about 1.6 KG, and the limit is 2kg. please can you suggest a type of tire i can use?
Here is a trick. Thoroughly clean the tires with alcohol. Get some black RTV (it’s silicone) and apply a thin coat to the surface of the tires. Do this with the tires mounted on the bot. Apply a thin coat with a craft stick while the wheels are rotating. Allow plenty of drying time. It makes the tires very sticky. It will come off eventually, but should stay put for the event.
