I have been trying to use the CMUCAM3,but i still can't work it yet,i still need help.i did learn that there is a USB to 9 pin cable,my bad.can anyone suggest a way maybe other than the CMUCAM3 to have vision on the robot
I never got a CMU camera
I never got a CMU camera because webcams were cheaper. I can’t help you with CMU but if you want you can experiment with http://myrobotlab.org . I should be able to help you with that, if your interested.
thx for reply
thanks for replying, for a moment i nearly gave up on this forums.maybe i am still new.i am yet to do the sensor part of the robot.is it much easier?i am planning to do a line following robot using vision base.my plan is this
i am using a plc as the main processor with a motor driver for the robot movement.the camera sends the input to the plc to process the data received from the camera and sends it to the driver.this is all theory and i am not sure is it applicable in real life.sorry if my explanation blur you out.
but i am interested to try the webcam if it fast and easy to program through your guidance me,bcs most of the peers in my uni are clueless on vision base hardware, even as i type i am trying to understand CMUCAM3.so i definately appreciate the help
ps-sorry for the late reply
Line following
I would suggest you search for “line following” in the search box. Most of these robots are done with simple IR reflector sensors. The complexity of processing video is really much more difficult, and not needed for simple line following.
At the very least, if “line following” is the real goal I would suggest you use IR sensors first - after you successfully accomplish that goal, then look into video processing.
Good Luck !
prob
i hope i was dealing with ir sensors, but the trouble is that this project is my university project,so it is stated that vision base is required.that is why i am putting up with the problems i face with CMUCAM3.i reap what i sow.so i am trying my best with CMUCAM3.but if the webcam is much easier, then i am willing to learn.
and,i checked out the website.i was more keen to looking on how to configure the camera to the laptop.for now i am stuck with cmucam3 cygwin program…ggrrrr, can’t even start to code a damn thing.
