Well as we all know, the basic drive system of Walter is now done and the whole family has taken turns riding it... Now I am on to trying to figure out what I want it to look like, do and all the features. One issue I have run into, is the dual-purpose nature of this bot. What I mean is that I really dig the fact it is powerful enough to move people around but I also want a nice, big deck for a lot of circuit boards, an arm, sensors, a proper head and batteries. Now, of course the trailer idea was thrown out... But how the hell do you attach a trailer to something that can spin on it's center? Oh yeah, 1980's technology to the rescue... You just mount the hitch on the center-line of the 'bot between the wheels!! I will have to use a pretty high pivot-point to clear all the stuff mounted to the "deck" but indeed, I have my solution. --Check out this video, it should bring some of you back and give others some ideas. --For me, it means bicycle wheels and more welding!! W00T!!
(Oh, I think I'll skip the part (in the video) where the trailer dumps the kids out the back)
