I.C.R.I

i am developing special software that is compatible with the ssc-32
and i would like to hear what kind of robots you would like to be
on the software? called I.C.R.I :astonished:

Hey,

Sounds cool. What will the software do? And what does the acronym stand for? We can’t really tell you what type of robots we want it to support without knowing what the software will do? i.e. will it be a 3d simulator that reads SSC-32 commands and simulates the robot? Or will it be a program similar to the SEQ?

-robodude666

it will look kind of like the seq but different
its not a 3d simulater
and the name stands for internet.controlled.robotics

If its a program similar to SEQ, why support just one type of robot when you can have the user “build” the robot themselves and select the servos to use. You can include project files for different lynxmotion robots so users have a jump start but don’t limit it to just one or a few robot types.

Whats the internet part for in the name? Will we be able to control each others robots via a webserver? :astonished:

ys thats exactly what i meen

:open_mouth: Wow, thats sick!! How will you manage that? Thats wicked awesome dude! Make sure to keep us all up to date with the project  It will be a very interesting one! Good luck ^^

thanks just remember that every one has to vote on what robots they want in it

oh one little thing
you can also hook up a ps2 adapter to your computer to controll it

Damn… How many years you have in Windows Software Development? I can barely make a GUI with C++ (win32 API SUCKS!) and I can do a “meh” job using a library.

what do you meen?

How many years experience do you have in programming for the Microsoft Windows operating system? (like software development… making a gui, etc)

oh i have been learning for over a year (not a new years joke  )
its very easy to learn 8)

Simple to learn, not simple to remember… To make a window with win32 api, it takes like 80+ lines of code oo’’… Though the result output is an exe file that is far smaller than one using a library. God bless DLLs.

accually it takes over 100+ lines of code if you make somthing like im working on,
but its so simple a 3 year old can learn

Man that looks cool! I was reading your posts about the programing of windows and had nop idea what half of the words were  I shold get into that, it would be interesting, but complicated… is there like a book that could help me? any sugestions?

Sam (300 posts! yeah!)

well theres a couple of books on amazon.com
just do a couple of searches on there and you will be able to find them

damn… i still can’t figure out what kind of electronics
im going to use for it

your obviously going to need some kind of Wifi or bluetooth that is compatible with the SSC-32. I have no clue on the programming part (Im a mechanical and electronics guy) but I do know if you want to beat the Wiport, you’ll need more flexible programming that will allow the operator more freedome and options with the program. Also, you’ll have to outdue 1320ft (.25 m) of operating distance as I have calculated and heard that the wiport has 0.25m of operating distance outdoors and probably 400-500ft with walls in between (thats an estimate). Hope this info helps and PLEASE INFORM US AND LET US HELP YOU CHOOSE THE ELECTRONICS AS WELL AS KNOW WHAT THE WHOLE THING IS ABOUT

do you meen 0.25 miles or meters?

miles silly

i think that the first version is just going to be controlled by the keyboard

it will take a while to figure out what kind of electronics i should use,
any ideas?

Ummm, i think its still gota be wireless to be controlled by the keyboard otherwise it imobolised the robot with a teathered DB9 cable and its pretty much like the seq software correct?

if you look at my “wireless way” post, you can find some good electronics. All you need to do is ask.
