Hunter VTail 500 large motor - can it take the Avroto 400kv

After a long hiatus I’m giving up on my complete DIY approach and looking to buy the VTail 500 Hunter kit with the large motor upgrade.

I’ve got 4x very expensive Avroto 3515:

These are 400kv heavy lift motors. I have the ESC’s too as well as the Lynxmotor.

Can I install these in the Hunter Vtail 500 large motor kit and get them working reasonably ok with the supplied software?

thanks!

PS: Does the Canopy kit fit on large motor installs?

The “large motor” upgrade will have an opening of 45mm in the arms so the Avroto should fit at 42.5mm outside diameter.
We cannot find suggestions regarding propellers for this motor so make sure they do not touch the center frame or the ground.

You seems to use the Quadrino Nano so yes it will work but you might have to tune the PID for better flight characteristics.

The canopy do not fit the large motor version.

Cool thanks for getting back to me, placed the order for a bunch-o Vtail parts from you earlier!

The Avroto usually takes 6s battery (which I’m hoping to repeat) and 15" props, which clearly wont fit. So far I’ve ordered 11x5" props as they seem to be the largest uniform size that fits (I see 14" fits on the front only, sounds like asking for setup problems!).

I do indeed have a Quadrino Nano (for some reason wrote Lynxmotor earlier…).

PS: Pity about the canopy, but if you were to send me the CAD files of the VTail I’d have a shot at making a new canopy for the large format motor version!

Unfortunately … we cannot supply the CAD files as it would be too easy to replicate.

I figured I’d ask anyhow! :stuck_out_tongue:

If you have the skills, you might want to do your own based on the arms you will receive then make it 3D print by Shapeways.

I’m thinking I will give that a shot for sure, I’ve always thought its a great platform aesthetically !

Thanks…!!

This design has been done by me as a request mostly.
A guy came to me with a wood-stick frame and wanted a more “finish” version so i did the VTail 400 and 500 on the VTail idea.
