Humanoid robot Steve

Hello and welcome robot fans! My name is Jan Marvin Schäfer and i am from alsfeld, which is a part of hessen, in germany. I am going to school jet, but in about a jear, i will start study. Thats the main part about me and my life,- Steve, my humanoid robot, is an idea i have for more than one jear now. I planed Steve very often and hard, to get this project as perfect as possible- i planed himself in a Cad- programm (google Scetc-up) an made a lot of thoughts about him. As i got a minijon in a supermarked, i dicited to start the build. With the humaoid robot, I want to show, that young people should look into the future and should change it or make it a better one. Steve and I want to be part of the next german competition of young scientists. We hope to get a chance to show, what Steve is and what he could do. Robotics is a very important and trendsetting thing for me. As i was 16 years old, I startet to build with my friend a 3D cube. I decited to solve the problem, that we had no idea how we controll the Leds. I looked around on the internet an decited to buy an Arduino. My first Arduino was one of the Arduino Uno´s. Today I would say, that it was not the best way to start in electronics, but it was the right one. And thats it- I just started to build more complex projects and one day- Steve was born in my mind. I love the idea of combinate the electronics of today, to get electronics of tomorrow. In my pictures, I get in my little lab, you can see Steve. Steve is not ready, I am just building on him to get him finished in a few of months. I hope he is ready at the end of november this year. In the future, Steve will get a raspberry pie for the main control. Now he got an Arduino Mega 2560. He is completly build out of wood, because i think wood is the best maerial for me and this project. I know how wood should be cut and so on. In one of the pictures you can see a chip, which I build six times in my robot. It is an Arduino Uno on a breadboard, soldered togehter. This Arduinos are for the main control of the servos. The servos are cheap ones from ebay. I calculated if the servos fits into the robot- and so the robot is just about 4 feet tall. If you want to make bigger one (about 6 feet or more) you have to trim the torque high. My robot can speak, see his enviroment, and hanlde correct. I used for this project about 20 ultrasonic senores, 3 lcds, about 200-300 meters of cable, 34 servo motors, 14 Atmega 328p´s, lot of soldering iron and until now 30-40 hours of work. In the end of my discribtion i would say, that i will inform you of the newest steps of the build and i realy like if you give me a commant to what i love to do. I hope there will be a lot of tips,- give my humaoid the right and cool style, in informatic things you know.

Photos will follow..there is a problem with the side.

Update to my project Steve

technical data:

-6.4 volt accumulator (normaly for a scooter) weight: 750 gramm, you can see it in picture 4

The accumulator is in a center position in the robot, the point of weight is so deep as possible

-as you can see in picture three, i used a Led matrix for the mouth. This matrix is selfbuild and got about 32 Leds. To control this matrix i dident use multiplexing,- i just asembled 4 shift register to control the matrix. All 4 registers are controlled by one atmega 328p on a chip, like you can see in picture seven. The chip for the head you can see in picture three, it is a bigger one, because there are two atmega´s on it: one for the hole Leds and one for a temparature chip and for controlling the robots neg.

-As you could see in picture one, i used two usb- camaras for the eyes of the robot. These are for the future of the project and i hope, that i could make the robot much more ingelligent with them.
