What are the techniques used in tracking human movement?

Can you provide some details?

  • Non-contact movement of limbs like arms, legs (like Kinect)
  • Contact sensing of movement of limbs, fingers (like bend sensors)
  • Movement on the ground / on the planet (like GPS)
  • Movement within a building (like indoor GPS)

The idea is to create a robot that tracks and photograph a person who is moving on the ground

So, which of the following would be important:

  1. Recognizing a human (based on what factors?)
  2. Differentiating one human from others
  3. Differentiating a human against a complex background

Can the human wear a device to help allow the robot to track it?
Where is the human moving? What is the environment?

This is far from an easy request as you can tell. You’ll have quite a lot of programming to do.
