Hi,

How much weight will the 20x40x100 handle?
For example, placing 10kilos in on one end while having it mounted on the other end. Let’s say that out of 1000mm, 600mm are supporting/lifting the 10 to 13 kilos of weight in the end of these 600mm extrusion “hanging in the air” part, out of the 1000mm ratrig extrusion.
How much weight will each 500mm (out of a length of 1000mm) aluminium extrusion carry and being able to handle?

@ChristianD Welcome to the RobotShop Community. The weight the beam can support depends on how the weight is distributed. The manufacturer only provides the following information for the 20x40:

  • Moment of inertia (lx): 1.4cm^4
  • Moment of inertia (lz): 5.1cm^4
  • Moment of resistance (Wx): 1.4 cm^3
  • Moment of resistance (Wy): 2.5cm^3
  • Mass: 0.8Kg/m
