HS-805BB replacement?

Hi,

I feel my HS-805BB is getting old and I’m wondering if there is a good replacement for it. Should I just go with the same one or is there a newer version that can fit in? Any “serial” version compatible?

Thanks,

JM

If you need a drop-in replacement, consider the metal gear version:

Hitec doesn’t really make serial servos, but the Lynxmotion Smart Servo equivalent would be:

It’s smaller physically but a beast, and we sell brackets which are compatible with the SES V1.

Ha, nice! Thanks for the prompt reply as usual!

So an I better to go with the LSS-HT1 ? I feel so. Do you have a link to the adaptor plate it will take to install it in place of the HS-5805MG?

Thanks,

JM

Hi,

Can you confirm which product you’re using it with? If it’s the AL5 series and the Hitec 805 is in the shoulder, note that the dimensions of the arm in the software won’t be accurate. If you are using the SSC-32, you’d need to set the HT1 to RC mode after configuring it, and use the RC connector as opposed to the serial cable.

To fix the servo on any of its sides, there are two brackets: a single-wide and a double wide which have the same mounting patterns:
https://www.robotshop.com/products/lynxmotion-ses-aluminum-single-wide-bracket
https://www.robotshop.com/products/lynxmotion-ses-aluminum-double-wide-bracket

There are two lengths of C-channel:
https://www.robotshop.com/products/lynxmotion-ses-aluminum-short-c-bracket-v2
https://www.robotshop.com/products/lynxmotion-ses-aluminum-long-c-bracket-v2

You can see how it’s used in the shoulder of the SES V2 arm here in step 4/5 and 5/5

Then step 1/4 onwards:
