ok i have been looking at the robonova, but was blow away also by the hrp-2m based off the HRP-2 Promet just on a much smaller scale, and just want to see if anyone as info one the bot and the price ? i know these bots are hard to compare what would be the best choice, if money is not the issue
to be honest i really just love the looks, and what to know if i can get this plastic for the robonova, because they can almost do the same moves
The HRP-2m is extremely impressive. If money was not an issue, I would have bought one the first time Sato demo’ed it for me. The moves are incredibly smooth and lifelike. The primary reasons are that they are all calculated usine inverse kinematics rather than the stop-motion poses used by the Robonova and other kits.
But… it is rather pricy and not likely to get any cheaper. The basic kit will set you back around $5k. They picked the best components - including the multiple axis force sensors in the feet that run around $500 each.
The looks are cool - very cool, though I don’t particularly care for the way the knees stick out when it squats down. The problem with shell designs like that is you have to make a lot of compromises between the style and operation.
There are body shells available for the KHR series robots - the ones from Poseidon are probably the best available:
between the robonova and the khr 1 I’d go with the robonova, it’s by hitec and hitec servos are very good and will last for a long time, so if you want to do something else with it after, you can.
