HQuad500 and Quadrino Assembly

I bought the HQuad500 and Quadrino Nano kit along with a DX6e 6 radio. I am in the process of assembling the drone. i am confused as to how to wire among the various components.

Can you suggest any downloadable documents that might help me.

I have the “Quadrino Nano User Guide (V1.0 - July 2015)” and the “HQuad500 - Frame Assembly Guide (V1.0 June 2015)”.

I am at a loss as to how to connect the Radio Receiver to the Nano and the Nano to the four motor wiring clips that dangle from the fram assembly.

Thanks,

Hi Bruce,

You have to use the Quadrino Nano user manual to properly connect your receiver.
We do not supply a wiring diagram for each brand of transmitter/receiver but you can match the function to your own system. (it should be similar to the picture attached)

The ESC’s should be connected according to the user manual as well.

Hi Eric,

Thanks. I think I can manage the connection between the receiver and the Nano. My greater confusion is connecting the Quadrino to the HQuad.

Am I correct to assume the four motor 3 pin male plugs from the drone clip into the four 3 pin female receptacles on the Motor Harness? I think i understand the correct pairing. Three of these connections will only use one of the wires in the male plug. Is this correct?
I likewise assume the wires dangling from the Radio Harness connect to the Receiver.

At that point I will have the Motor Harness and the Radio Harness ready to plug into the two 12 pin receptacles on the back of the Quadrino.
After those connections are made, the Quadrino will have four unused 4 pin receptacles – two on each side. Does anything connect to these receptacles on the left and right sides of the Quadrino?

I will also have one 6 pin, one 3 pin and one 20 pin receptacles on the bottom which are not used. Does anything plug into these three receptacles?
Are there any downloadable materials which would help explain these connections?

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

The side ports are either i2c or serial connections which in your case will be unsused, same for the connectors on the bottom of the board.
Information is available HEREbut will likely confuse you and at the very end of the user manual.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the very quick answers.

So it is correct that the Motor Harness requires only one wire from Motors D5, D6 and D2, after it has connected all three wires from Motor D3?

Should there be a master power switch between the battery and mail two power cable? Or does plugging in the battery serve as the main switch?

After the HQuad500 is assembled and wired, is a document that will lead me thru programing and initialing the DX6e 6 radio?

Is there a “How to Fly the HQuad500 Drone” manual for use after the HQuad drone is finally assembled and ready to fly?

What is the difference between the CCW Propellers (RB-Hqp-36) and the CW Propellers (RB-Hqp-44)? How would I decide which to use?

Thanks,
Bruce

***1. So it is correct that the Motor Harness requires only one wire from Motors D5, D6 and D2, after it has connected all three wires from Motor D3? ***

There are 3 wires in that connector (ESC Side) and here is the pinout
Black: Negative
Red: 5V output from it’s internal regulator
Yellow / Orange: Speed signal (pwm)

The Quadrino need to be powered so one of the connector retain all 3 wires up to the Quadrino Nano but the others only require the signal for speed.

***2. Should there be a master power switch between the battery and mail two power cable? Or does plugging in the battery serve as the main switch?

It’s not recommended to leave connected a LiPo battery so best not to use a switch.
You would need a massive switch as well with 4x 20/30A ESC’s.

3. After the HQuad500 is assembled and wired, is a document that will lead me thru programing and initialing the DX6e 6 radio?

We don’t have user manuals specific for each Transmitter.
You need to set the “End Points” for each channels to about 120% but this is covered in the user manual HERE.

It’s best to read the whole manual unless you will run into issues.

4. Is there a “How to Fly the HQuad500 Drone” manual for use after the HQuad drone is finally assembled and ready to fly?

That’s an interesting question, no we don’t have such user manual.
***5. What is the difference between the CCW Propellers (RB-Hqp-36) and the CW Propellers (RB-Hqp-44)? How would I decide which to use?

This is also covered in the user manual (HERE) for each type of multirotor with pinout to the Quadrino Nano.
There are CW (clockwise) and CCW (counter-clockwise) rotation propellers and Motor + Propeller should turn the way shown in the user manual.
