How to verify encoder is working on 775s-en 12V

Hi, I’m not getting any output from the encoder c1 and c2 wires

GND -
C1
C2
VCC +5v

No documentation, I haven’t tried 12V to the encoder because I don’t want to kill it.
They don’t go high, they don’t go low

solved it, the tiny little sensor was a fraction of an inch away from the wheel. push it a bit. sensor pulses +5v
