How to use multiple RF transmitters/receivers

I have purchased one of the following part:

I would like to use multiple pairs of sensors and RF Transmitters to send on/off signals of the sensors to the receivers attached to a Raspberry Pi. I would need to know which sensor/transmitter is sending a high signal. Can I use the above RF Transmitter/Receivers for this application or would each transmitter control all of the receivers?

If you have a mesh network, an XBee module is best, and you can connect one easily via USB:

These are essentially made for the application you describe.
