On my Rover I would like to be able to turn the arm completly off. The arm currently uses two large digital servos.
So far I have not seen much information on this, except from the RoboSavy website, that mentions getting the position information from a digital servo and during that process it turns off the servo… So I will try it.
Well the 5745 servos are digital, but not necessarily HMI compatible. Looks like anything with an R in the part number excluding the HSR-425CR has the HMI ability. HS-5*** are just more powerful versions of analog counterparts.
the article you link kurte appears to be written and maintained by lynxmotion forum user named ribbotson. he did a lot of work reverse engineering the protocol used to communicate with the hitec digital servos. if anybody outside of a hitec employee knows how to go about twiddling a hitec servo he is probably the guy to ask.
