Hi, I’m trying to make a cardboard paper airplane launcher with my son who is really interested in learning about robotics.
It says we need two 1000 RPM DC motors, the kind that have the flat edges so it can be easily glued to the cardboard, for use with a 9-volt battery. Help! There are so many motors out there and I can’t find the exact thing. I also don’t understand what type of wires you would need to connect to the motor. Could anyone give me a 101 on motors for small projects? Thx!!!Hey there!
You could probably use this motor: https://www.robotshop.com/ca/en/r360-3-9v-12000-rpm-brushed-dc-motor.html?product-code=RB-Oel-124
The thing is, it spins much faster and might not work. Unfortunately, there are no 1000 rpm 9v motors in Robotshop’s catalog
I’m not quite sure about the torque needed to throw paper airplane in this fashion.
As for wires, 20-22 awg should be more than enough, you won’t draw a lot of current from them.
If the motor does not spin in the right direction, just swap the wires.
