How to Make a Drone / UAV - Lesson 1: Terminology

@Philip Barnsley We certainly encourage you to purchase your frame from RobotShop, and we carry the additional products (motors, propellers, ESCs, flight controller) to complete most of them.

@md rohul amin Thatā€™s what this series is trying to help with.

For a quadcopter how many engines will we need and should they be brushless? and also how powerful for one that does not have a payload or a camera on it. If i do put a caemra on it how large of motor/s

@Philip Barnsley A quadcopter can have four or eight motors (X8 configuration). Smaller quadcopters the size of your hand tend to use brushed motors because of their cost, whereas medium sized almost always use brushless motors. Take a look at lesson 3 on propulsion.

At last I found a helpful and guided series for making drone, I am very much eager about this topicā€¦ I have a think that how camera send videos and how it receives that imageā€¦

I want to make a fixed wing uav. Pls help me regarding the materials required for its construction. Please Help

@Asmit Kumar We suggest creating a new topic on the RobotShop Forum here: https://www.robotshop.com/forum/uavs-drones-f88
We would be happy to suggest some parts to get you started. The more information you can provide, the better.

Itā€™s really a fabulas sight for those who are interested in robotic

Please contact me sir I canā€™t found the making a drone itemsā€¦
Plz help me to serve their equipments/characteristics thanksā€¦

Hi ANURAG,

You can contact our RobotShop Support Center or create a topic on our RobotShop Forum if you need special help to choose components.

All the best,

Hello sir,
i want to make a drone. But I donā€™t know how to make remote control for this drone. Please, help meā€¦

Most UAV/Drones are controlled by a normal R/C type transmitter (UAV & Drone Remote Control). The flight controllers available are also mostly compatible with this technology.

Hello sir,
Is a base station required?

I made a drone. And the 4-volt motor and two 3.7 battery planted. This is up slightly from the ground. But it is only to adjust to the cable. If you make a table in the remote and send me in E-mail, Iā€™ll be grateful to you.

Hi there is there a way i can adapt the system used in a toy remote controlled car into a simple drone considering i can get the aviation instruments and prepare the aerodynamic rotors

Hallo Sir,
first of all I want to thanks for everything. Now I want to make a dron but I have no any parts and lots of money so please tell me how to make a cheap dron .
Thanks
Sachin Mitawa

@robert A base station is not always required. Most people just use a standard controller. A base station can become necessary as you add more and more features to the operatorā€™s end, such as an LCD, antenna directional tracking, a large antenna etc. Weā€™ll cover this a bit in the lesson on long range and FPV.

@Msd Shimul Weā€™re not sure what you mean. Most UAV batteries are not 3.7V unless your UAV is very small. Please explain?

@Mulualem The short answer is no. The long answer requires that you fully understand how the electrical system of a custom UAV works, modify code etc. It would be quite a lot to do and not guaranteed to work.

@Sachin Currently a ā€œcheapā€ medium sized custom drone would be in the $200 range. We are not aware of parts to make it significantly cheaper.
