Hello,
I have an espresso machine that will go on a box. The box will be on wheels and be pushed around. The ground could be sloping. I need to keep the espresso machine level. The top of the box (worktop) could move with something like an actuator or similar in each corner.
Looking for ideas have how to get level worktop at the push of a button.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions.
Box is 90cm x 60xm x 60cm L x W x H.
10 cm movement of worktop
@Barista Welcome to the RobotShop Community. Your idea was actually a great start. Assuming you only need to level the cart about one axis (as opposed to two), you can use a single linear actuator at one end, with the center pivoted. To control this however, you would need an accelerometer which is capable of measuring the direction of the pull of the earth. You need to program a microcontroller to determine this angle, and then send a signal to a motor controller to make the accelerometer (which is mounted to the cart) level using a simple PID motion controller. As you can see, this takes a bit of programming, so if you’re not up to the task, considering hiring an engineer in training from a university.

Thank you.
Great suggestion to contact a university.
I think I will use an actuator, spirt level and controller.
