How to install your QN on a VTail 4/5 copter in a simple way

Hi guys,
since I belong (or I feel like…) to this very small community of people who had/have a VTail 4/5 Quadcopter and I want to contribute actively too, I wanted to share with you a very simple, easy and fast solution for keeping your QN (Quadrino Nano) attached to the VTail Frame.

Maybe you remember to the dissussion we had few days ago: here. After that I started looking for a solution that is:

]simple;/:m]
]robust and strong enough;/:m]
]reliable to let me to change the board or the plate from one copter to another or just to install another QN;/:m]
]affordable, very cheap;/:m]
]let small adjustments to the board for correct positioning respect to the frame;/:m]
]doesn’t need to modify or make some modification to the original Lynxmotion’s parts (like holes…);/:m]

After some nights thinking about it, I came with a very simple solution. All you need is what you most probably already have or can find by any friend of yours.

Just let’s start:

]Find or buy a small PCB plate like this one: http://cdn-reichelt.de/bilder/web/xxl_ws/C900/H25PR075.png/:m]
]Remove the small 4 screws coming with the QN board and unmount both plastic shells apart. Be sure you don’t ruin anything;/:m]
]Put the bottom shell on the plate and using the 4 holes present in the shell as a reference, drill exactly on their position 4 holes on the PCB. Drill Bit 2,5 mm;/:m]
]Cut the PCB removing unnecessary material which brings only ballast;/:m]
]Take the longer 4 screws coming in the case with the QN;/:m]
*]Put everything on the top plate of the VTail frame and…

*]…using the small 4 nuts you can fix all together!

With this simple solution you can lock your board really strong to the frame. Nevertheless you can still move the board a little bit around to locate it exactly on the right position.

And…you can change board, plate everytime you need! Just…pease pay attention to not tight your screw too hard. You should use the right amount of force to keep relative strong togheter but not ruining the screws or the case.

Bye bye.

Nice “Sandwich” mount option, that might help other people to mount the Quadrino Nano on a frame.
Thanks for the detailed tutorial here.

Thanks for the simple QN install. I used a BusBoard ProtoBoard-1593K.
I just had to drill four holes.

Thanks again. Regor
