As title states, a bit confused here. The import button doesnt work =/?
From the home window:
File -> Import --> Select All Step Files (type)
Then browse to the STEP file you want to import.
I actually already did all this, but my archive of all the Lynxmotion parts in Alibre format is a bit over 8 Megabytes in size. Beth already has all my stuff but has not had time to get them onto the website yet due to Lynxmotion being so popular for robotics.

keeps saying unsupported file format, any ideas?
Which specific file are you having trouble importing?
Can you import any other STEP files?

I am working on getting all the files in Alibre format ready for download on our website. Unfortunately, I’ve been completely swamped lately, but I will try to get this done asap. Sorry for the wait!
Did I create a monster? Sorry! Well, OK, so maybe I’m not too sorry.
I’m glad to see more people using Alibre Design Xpress and hopefully it will help others like myself design and see their designs before they actually purchase parts. It sure has helped me avoid some mistakes so far.
I’ll put my archive up on my website so people can download the whole lot of Alibre format files if they want to. Hopefully that will take some of the pressure off you, Beth.

i downloaded the servo zip file and it had a whole bunch of .step files in it, none of them works.
& beth, thanks for trying, no rush however
I believe I have everything added in now…
lynxmotion.com/ViewPage.aspx … e=sesmodel
There were a few parts I couldn’t find in your email, Dale.
o Nut Hex 4-40 Nylon Insert (SLN-01)
o REC-06
o All of the Standoffs
o Miscellaneous other parts, such as the track. (If you convert the track model, could you please provide me with a screenshot? Thanks!)
o Does the hbkr-01-001.AD_PRT file include both top and bottom configurations?
If you can provide me with any Alibre files I don’t have up right now, I’ll try to get 'em up there asap. Thanks!
Edit: Added more to the list.
thanks guys, this should be enough to get me started.
the direct import option still does not work, however, double cliking .prt files work. i started with the servo, im cant for the life of me get the horn in here.
x_x sorry for being a pain
edit** nevermind, its the insert function i was looking for, not the import .

It looks like you did good, Webmistress!

I will fill in the blanks as I am able. It’s possible I didn’t download and convert some stuff I knew I would not be using. With more people using Alibre Design now, I have great motivation to fill in those blanks.
o Does the hbkr-01-001.AD_PRT file include both top and bottom configurations?
It appears not. I will check into this and fill in this blank too as soon as I can. I just redownloaded the STEP214 file and it has a single solidworks part in it. I think the problem is Solidworks allows completely different but similar part configurations to be stored in the same file. My conversion, using Solid Edge as an intermediary, only picked up the primary part configuration. I will see if I can find away to extract the other configurations, but I am not optimistic about this right now - I think this really needs to be done by a SolidWorks user…

Now you can download the Alibre native format files. I use most of these all the time, so there should not be any problems with them. If you do find a problem, just let me know and I will get it fixed as soon as I can.

hey any chance we’ll get a “little gripper” for alibre?
hey any chance we’ll get a “little gripper” for alibre?
I’ve never seen a little gripper disassembled. It would require modeling each part of the assembly, but should not be too difficult to do. I could do it from a 2D CAD drawing also, but I need dimensions to work with so I can match everything up to the existing SES part models.
FYI, the spacing between the small hole centers and the large hole centers of the SES hole pattern is 0.3280 inches. I had to figure this out so I could design parts to use with the current models. I didn’t want to create my own models if I did not have to. I think there are still at least two models that need to be fixed.
