How functional and stable is Arducam 64 MP?

I’m only seeing one post regarding Arducam 64MP, and it doesn’t answer my basic question, how stable and functional is controlling this camera module over Rasberry Pi? There’s very little elsewhere online about this camera, read some comments about this basically being an unfinished project. What’s the opinion here? What does RobotShop know about this part they sell? Has anyone there ever personally tested the product and gotten it to work with Rasberry Pi? How about any users out there? I’d welcome being pointed to capable hands to help me tamp down basic usage; manual focus, manual gain, disable pixel binning, control tripping exposure, save out Compressed RAW. Thanks!

Hi @BenjyvC and welcome to our forum!

So far there are no product reviews on RobotShop product pages for ArduCam 64MP Autofocus Camera for Raspberry Pi.

Regarding compatibility, here is a note from Arducam:
For full resolution (64MP), this camera can work on Pi 4B, CM4, and future models. For superpixel resolution (16MP) or lower, it can work on most of the Pi models.

Also, here is a test footage for this camera:

And more info can be found here:

If more info is needed, we can contact Arducam sales.

Hello Igor,

Thanks for the informative response. If you have better luck reaching someone at Arducam, I’d welcome your trying. I’ve tried twice, alas no reply, which I’m tempted to believe that speaks for itself - the project lies dormant. So, yes, please try them, lets see.

If not Arducam, could you point me to any small sensor module that’s A) available to a low volume buyer (am prototyping), and B) supports 42 MP+ resolution. I’ve reached out to folks touting Sony IMX586 44.5MP camera module, if you’re familiar and can advise on that model. I’m open to anything. Many thanks.

Benjy

Hi @BenjyvC ,

Thank you for your reply.

I guess the reply from Arducam is missing because of the Chinese New Year holidays that are still ongoing.

There is also a contact form they share, which you can fill in and they can give some product suggestions:
