How do you attach a DC Motor to a wheel?

Hi,

I am about to buy a DC Motor for a project, but I do not know how to attach a DC Motor to a wheel. I am still deciding on whether or not to get a Stepper motor instead, but I still don’t know how to attach a stepper motor to a wheel.

You don’t mention sizes of the motor or wheels.

Normally, the wheel has a hub of some sort. 1/8" shaft motors will fit 1/8" bored hubs. Lynxmotion has these motors and hubs. A setscrew typically secures the hub to the motor shaft. Be sure to grind or file a flat if the shaft does not have one. Otherwise, the setscrew will gall the shaft, making it hard to remove from the hub.

Larger motors/hubs usually work similarly.
