i want to purchase a product however it says that it does not come in stock until 8/21/2020 when i checked earlier today it had said 7/31/2020 so I was waiting to purchase it until then, however I’m confused because it seems like people are buying them and pushing orders back? If I purchase one now will it for sure ship on 8/21/2020 or do I have to wait until then to reliably buy one and know when it will arrive?
@RobotBox There are various statuses:
"Special order"
means the items are ordered from the manufacture only when a customer places an order on RobotShop. These are normally expensive items where the manufacturer does not stock many of the product.
"In stock"
means there is at least one of the item in stock and ready to ship. If you want to order many, you will see if there are backordered parts (and how many) in your order before proceeding to payment.
"New stock soon"
means the items are ordered regularly, and the system estimates when the item is expected to arrive based on demand, any orders in the system and any items which have been ordered from the manufacturer. However, during this time, others can still place orders, effectively reserving the stock, meaning although the item has reached one of RobotShop’s warehouses, the inventory is already reserved for customers.
There can be other issues liked delayed shipments (or delayed production on the part of the manufacturer), and sometimes items can be shipped between warehouses. It is always best to place an order even if the product is marked as “new stock soon”. In very rare instances does a manufacturer come back to RobotShop indicating the product is not available or has been discontinued.
