How do I turn a spal actuator into a digital linear servo?

I would like to build a digital linear servo just like the ones sold by servo city but cheaper and maybe more accurate if need be?
servocity.com/html/heavy_duty_linear_servo__25__l.html

They are to be used in an arm using either the SSC-32 or phiget as the means of control.

I was looking at this: pololu.com/catalog/product/755 but not sure if im barking up the right tree?

It can handle the required current (10A) but PWM freq. is 40khz with a 3us deadband. What does this equate to in terms of distance accuracy? And come to think of it how would I use the SPALs built in potentiometer? Im pretty lost and a noob please help!!

(Would also like to add that I want to make sure I do not loose any speed from the actuator.)

If you make yourself a basic 12v 10a H-bridge and the rest should be fairly easy. I’ve done some tinkering along these lines, but haven’t made a good working H-bridge yet. Use the board search function and look for “actuator” to see previous discussion on the subject.
