How do I calibrate the IMU on a Unitree robot?

To calibrate the inertial measurement unit (IMU) on your Unitree robot, first power on the robot and place it on a flat, level surface free of vibrations. Calibrate only when the robot is stationary and not carrying a payload. Using the Unitree mobile app or the robot’s handheld controller, open the maintenance or settings menu and choose “IMU calibration” (sometimes called attitude or inertial calibration). Follow the on‑screen prompts: the robot will run a short procedure to zero its gyroscopes and accelerometers. Do not move or touch the robot during the process.

When the calibration is complete, the robot may beep or display a confirmation message. If the calibration fails, repeat the procedure ensuring the surface is level and the robot is still. Calibrating the IMU is recommended after long shipping, following a fall or heavy impact, and any time you notice drift or unstable balance. Some models will also re‑calibrate automatically at start‑up.
