How difficult would it be for a beginner to get a robotic arm programmed to move across a particular length at set distances and timing intervals? I’m talking ABSOLUTE beginner 
Everything that I can find after spending way too long researching seems to be a few steps ahead of my extremely minimal knowledge and I’m not sure what I need to know to get there.
Any help at all would be really, greatly appreciated.

If you choose an existing arm on the market, the software might allow for coordinates (hence allowing you to move the arm a set distance).

If you really want to learn how to program - it will take some time and you’ll need to start with the basics.
