How come the SONY QRIO is the smoothest biped out there?

People that havent seen this need to see it, it’s motions are extremely fluid, Ive never seen this before and I certainly havent took notice to just how fluid they are.

How is this done? Does anyone have info on these things?

it is highly un-likely they are using hobby servos, and then highly likely they have a lot more programming re$ources than most hobbyists.

when you can directly control parameters like acceleration, velocity, and deceleration and are using quality motors/gearboxes it gets… well I don’t want to say simpler because it is more complicated, but maybe it becomes more readily possible to script fluid movements if you have the tools to do it.

Because sony has money and we don’t.

Along with the great quality motors and components, I’m sure a lot of resources went into the study of how each movement effected the entire robot. Such as how the inertia of the arms would effect the COG and the momentum of the entire robot. The amount of research and money that would have gone into this little biped would be huge!

Again, goes back to they have money and we don’t.

I read an article a few years back about the servo motors. The servos were designed exclusivly for the Qrio. They posted specs but I don’t remember them.
