I just bought a Beetle Car Kit (product code: RB-Ibo-214) and I find that the IR range is pretty small (like about a meter) and I would like to increase it (with some signal booster or something). Is it possible?

There are many factors involved and it’s not the easiest thing to do to change a component on a pre-made PCB (called “hacking”). In order to get greater distance, you’d need a more powerful LED (one to transmit and one at the same frequency to receive). At the same time, the transmitter’s electronics likely need to be changed to account for the higher current draw. Some might find it easier to simply create new electronics rather than hack the existing ones.
