Hovis Eco Plus and Bioloid Premium

Hi Gang,

I’m getting back into robotics… In the past I owned a HeathKit in the 80s, and Hitech Robonovo-1 when they first came out, I also own the Mind-storms kits. I’ve just recently decided to get back into the hobby, and a few years ago I was looking at getting the Bioloid setup, but never pulled the trigger on the purchase… Well I did last week, and now I have the set, and my two legged friend is 95% built. The problem is I started reading after I purchased the Bioloid, and it seems like the Hovis Eco Plus might be more of what I’m looking to fool around with, based on the sensors on it. I wanted something as close to a NAO as I could get, I figured the Bioloid would give me those options, but what I’m reading is that it will be very limited… I can’t find much on the Hovis system so I’m asking if anyone can tell me if my thoughts are correct that it’s more expandable and has more out of the box ie. bells and whistles than the Bioload Premium.

Thanks

The closest setup you can get to a NAO would likely be a Kondo KHr-2HV plus a RoBoard. This would essentially be a development platform where you could work on some basic image processing, wireless control, add your choice of sensors etc.
