Household Assistant

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Problem: My wife has mobility and balance problems.

What I am looking for: Watching our robot vacuum I theorize that a small machine that could carry maybe 25 lbs. max, and could comfortably go around corners, have automatic recharging and have a “follow me” functionality, would help her around the house. I watch the mapping the vacuum does and think that would be nice but not for an initial prototype. It doesn’t have to be complicated or fancy looking just functional.

What I have tried already: I bought a golf bag motor and built and attached a shopping cart like structure to carry things. The idea works well but it is just too large for the house. It carries a garbage can well, and can carry heavy stuff from the car to the house. Good, simple idea but too big for a normal house.

Me: I am older but good with metal. I can build most anything I need out of steel and aluminum. I have a reasonable 3D printer but I have never learned CAD. I did some successful programing in the DOS days but haven’t kept up. The Adreno type board looks interesting but I have had other interests.

Future: You can have this idea, I just want a prototype. I would think the market for a machine like this would be every disabled person. It should be profitable with a price point around that of a robot vacuum.

Can someone help?
