House of Robotic Destrction 2018

The Ohio Robotics Club is pleased to announce that our combat robot event, House of Robotic Destruction (HORD) will be returning to ColossalCon, a cosplay and gaming convention, at Kalahari Resort & Indoor Water in Sandusky OH on Saturday June 2nd. ColossalCon features many events and actives that draw thousands of convention goers each year. They are promoting HORD as a feature event and we are expecting hundreds of spectators to watch. HORD will feature four weight classes; Fairy (150 gram), Ant (1 lb), Beetle (3 lbs) and Mantis (6lbs). Trophies and prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finalist in each class. There is a $10 registration fee per robot. All HORD participants will receive a full event day pass With their registration. All registration will be handled via Builder’s database (buildersdb.com). If your team is not registered, please do so.

Non-Combat Robotics

To help keep the audience engaged during the breaks in the main tournament we are currently seeking individuals/group who can provide a 15 to 30-minute demonstration of something related to robotics during those breaks. This could include (but not limited to);

]Biped Robot Kung-Fu / Boxing / Dancing / Whatever/:m]
]Astromech demo/:m]
]Giant Hexpod doing something cool/:m]
]Robot soccer / hockey/:m]
]Lego Mindstorm/:m]Demo performers will need to report to the event coordinator during morning check in and then perform their demo at a scheduled time. Demos will be done in or in front of the combat arena. Demo performs will be provided with ColossalCon day passes and will be free to tour the con when they are not preforming. Please submit your demo proposal to [email protected]

Hope you were able to find participants.

CBenson,

Thank you for your support. Registration for the robotic combat tournament is open and filling up fast. As of this writing the Ant and Beetle brackets are nearly full, but we could use some more Mantis weights. We do allow multi-bots so two Beetles can fight as a Mantis-smaller brackets shorter path to 1st place.

We are still looking for something cool to fill the breaks in the main tournament. Anyone here who is near Cleveland and has a really cool project they want to show off or a group they want to promote contact me at [email protected].

Thanks
Chris O.
