Hole Diameter For a Snug Fit

Hi,

I’m having a custom brass flywheel made to mount onto a dc motor that I purchased on RobotShop with a 3.175 mm shaft diameter.

The machine tolerance for the flywheel from the manufacturer is +/- 0.005 inches.

I need to know what hole size to specify to ensure best chances of a snug fit. I’d like to use loctite metal bonding to glue the shaft to the flywheel.

These custom parts are not cheep, so I need the hole diameter to be right.

Thanks in Advance,
Zach

Hi Zach,

When it comes to tolerances, it would be better to communicate with your manufacturer and explain your needs.
Some shops will even be able to take the measurements on your motor to verify.
