we would like to purchase 3 Hokuyo UST-10LX LIDARs for an outdoor project, but there is a 5 years warranty from the client.
So I would like to ask, what is the warranty for this LIDAR and ideally what is it’s MTBF (or similar metric), so that we can estimate how many LIDARs we should by as a spare.
The LIDARs will be spinning 12hours/day, except for when the temperatures drops below -5°C (to stay within recommended temperature).

What can I suggest you from my general experience (since I was working a lot along with maintenance in automotive industry), is that you buy at least one spare LIDAR. I think that chances are low that you have 2 of them malfunctioning at the same time (if they are in normal operating conditions).
So, while you are trying to fix or return the broken one depending on warranty, spare one should do your job.

thank you. I’ll definitely go with at least one LIDAR extra in case of a failure.
The problem is that I don’t know if these LIDARs are built to withstand 5 years of almost continuous operation. And also how long is the warranty for these.
