Hockeyballs machine

Hi,

The Bola hockey machine from my local club has broken down and I thought it would be a cool project to fix it.
The two DC motors are still working, I only need a way(circuit) to controll their speed.
I think this will be possible with one of Cytrons smartdrive DC motor drivers. The only problem I have now is that I dont know which current rating I need (the 30A or 60A version). It is connected to a car battery (possibly need some current limiting?)

Specs:
DC-Motor
11.5V, 120W, 2800RPM

Battery
12V, 72Ah, 680A (EN)

I would like your inputs on this

Hi @LucasW02 and welcome to our forum.

For DC motor, I simply use P = U x I forum, where P is power, U is voltage, and I is current.

In your case, nominal power is 120W, and nominal voltage is 11.5VDC, so the formula give nominal current rating of I=10.43 Amperes.

So now you have a feeling about how much current one motor would use in nominal conditions, so board with 30A per channel should be good.
